**Position Overview**
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for executing medication management tasks to guarantee safe, effective, and economical therapeutic interventions while adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards established by federal, state, and accrediting organizations.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ _Medication Review:_ Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and effectiveness during processing, and perform necessary clinical support tasks as required.
+ _Product Preparation:_ Ensure the precise preparation of both compounded and non-compounded medications, adhering to safe handling practices consistent with regulatory standards.
+ _Pharmacy Operations:_ Supervise the distribution functions within the pharmacy department to ensure timely and accurate medication availability for patients and staff.
+ _Team Leadership:_ Oversee the activities of pharmacy technicians and support staff based on departmental needs.
+ _Inventory Management:_ Maintain accountability for the security and integrity of pharmacy inventory.
+ _Adverse Event Management:_ Identify, document, and address potential and actual adverse medication events, and analyze reports for trends and prevention strategies.
+ _Patient Education:_ Provide medication education to enhance patient understanding and adherence, in line with departmental guidelines.
+ _Collaboration:_ Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with pharmacy team members, healthcare providers, patients, caregivers, and leadership.
+ _Quality Assurance:_ Participate in medication safety initiatives, quality assurance programs, drug utilization reviews, and other departmental activities as needed.

**Qualifications**
+ _Licensure:_ Must maintain a current pharmacist license in the state(s) of practice.
+ _Education:_ Graduate from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or PharmD; advanced degrees such as Doctor of Pharmacy or residency training are preferred.
+ _Experience:_ Relevant experience in pharmacy practice is required, with preference given to candidates with one year of experience.
+ _Technical Skills:_ Proficient in the use of computer systems and pharmacy automation.
**Work Environment**
Work may involve periods of high stress and varying workloads. The role is primarily office-based, with potential exposure to hazardous substances or body fluids, and may require travel to off-site locations.
**Physical Requirements**
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
+ Manual dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive tasks.
+ Must be able to hear alarms and communicate effectively.
