Responsibilities
  • Collaborate: Work with teachers to implement quality early childhood programs.
  • Plan and Lead: Assist in lesson planning and lead activities.
  • Ensure Safety: Supervise activities to keep children safe.
  • Organize: Help maintain a neat and organized classroom.
  • Support: Assist in swim lessons, gym lessons, and field trips.
  • Communicate: Share relevant information with teachers and the director, and address child concerns appropriately.
  • Engage Families: Maintain professional communication with parents and guardians.
  • Confidentiality: Keep all information confidential.
  • Compliance: Help maintain state Child Care Licensing requirements.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Must be 20 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED and meet one of the following qualifications:
    • A Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate; or
    • Associate Degree with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education or Child and Family Services; or
    • A Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program; or
    • A Child Care Certificate of Completion from the Community College of Vermont; or
    • Successful completion of twenty-one (21) college credits with an Early Childhood or School Age focus.
  • Background Check: Ability to pass federal background and state fingerprint checks.
