About the Role

Kleinfelder is seeking a highly skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team in Raleigh, NC. As a key member of our Construction Services market, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field observations and materials sampling/testing during construction of buildings, bridges, and roadways.
  • Conduct testing on construction materials, including soils, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, metal decking, roofing, and paving.
  • Write daily field reports documenting work performed by contractors and indicating compliance/non-compliance with contract documents.
  • Cast field samples of concrete, masonry, grout, etc. for strength verification.
  • Provide daily phone calls to department managers to inform of daily progress on projects.
  • Pick-up construction material samples and deliver to laboratory, deliver equipment to site technicians.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required.
  • One (1) year or more experience in Construction Materials Engineering & Testing and Special Inspections, including applicable licenses and certifications.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Preference will be given to those with a background in vertical construction with emphasis on soil and concrete field testing experience.
  • Additional certification training is available and highly encouraged.
  • Personnel will be required to maintain required certifications current.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NCDOT testing/inspection certifications.
  • ICC Special Inspector Certifications (Reinforced Concrete, Pre-stressed Concrete, Soil, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Structural Welding, Structural Steel, and Bolting).
