About the Role

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant will play a vital role in providing direct speech and language services to students in a private special education school setting. Working under the supervision of a certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, the SLPA will be responsible for creating lesson plans, devising treatment strategies, and collaborating with the SLP to develop learning supports tailored to each student's needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct speech and language services to students under the supervision of a certified and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Create and implement lesson plans, treatment strategies, and learning supports tailored to each student's needs.
  • Collaborate with the SLP to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and progress monitoring plans.
  • Assist with documentation and programming, including progress reports and data collection.
  • Develop and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that meets the social, emotional, and executive functioning needs of students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders.
  • Completion of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certificate program or post-secondary coursework and equivalent training and experience as outlined by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
  • Prior experience working with autism and other complex medical diagnoses is required.
  • Familiarity with the IEP process and the collection of progress monitoring data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environment.
