Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Clinician II to join our team at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will provide individual, couple, and group counseling services to clients, documenting progress and utilizing a short-term model in treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual, couple, and group counseling sessions for clients, documenting progress and maintaining accurate records.
  • Utilize a short-term model in treatment planning, with supervisor approval for extended sessions.
  • Provide on-duty services for walk-ins, crisis calls, and general information inquiries.
  • Conduct intakes, prepare documentation, and route client records to supervisors for disposition.
  • Participate in clinical case conferences, presenting assigned cases for review.
  • Make referrals to external services, following up with clients to ensure continuity of care.
  • Adhere to utilization management protocols, ensuring timely and appropriate client services.
  • Complete documentation in a timely, legible, and thorough manner, submitting client records daily and notifying supervisors of schedule changes.
  • Participate in clinical supervision groups and individual supervision, as assigned.
  • Attend monthly in-service training sessions and assist with paraprofessional volunteer coordination.
  • Participate in program planning, evaluation, dissemination activities, and training, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Masters in social work (MSW) with at least 2000 accrued hours.
  • Eligible for licensure in a related field of practice.
  • Two years of counseling experience, including residential care, social services, child welfare services, general counseling, chemical dependency treatment, juvenile justice, and youth services.
  • Bilingual skills, with English/Spanish fluency preferred.
  • Ability to work as a team member dedicated to generating resources and services for the LGBTQ community.
  • Proven ability to work under direct supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills and knowledge, including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets, and other software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a multicultural environment.
