Job Title: Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

MGA Homecare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to join our team as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the Texas Health Steps program and possess strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of healthcare services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including physical exams, screenings, and vaccinations.
  • Review patient office-specific history, nutritional, developmental, mental health, post-partum depression, TB, vision, hearing, audiometric screening form(s) via interview of parent/patient.
  • Complete review of milestones by parent/patient interview.
  • Provide and score surveillance/screening tool(s).
  • Review results of screening tools and forms.
  • Complete referrals, if indicated and as needed.
  • Administer Tuberculin Skin Test (TST), and order if indicated.
  • Obtain patient measurements (Length/height, weight, BMI, FOC and BP).
  • Complete visual acuity screening, newborn hearing, and subjective hearing screening.
  • Review results of visual acuity screening and newborn hearing screening.
  • Review results of school-based vision and hearing screening results.
  • Obtain immunization record and provide list of Medicaid enrolled dental providers.
  • Determine and facilitate the ordering of needed immunizations.
  • Obtain consent and provide Vaccine Information Statements (VIS).
  • Administer immunizations (provider order or standing orders).
  • Enter immunizations into ImmTrac.
  • Counsel patient regarding immunizations.
  • Obtain results of first newborn blood screen.
  • Determine age appropriate mandatory/required laboratory screenings.
  • Identify possible risk-based screenings.
  • Collect specimen(s) for point-of-care testing or submission to a laboratory.
  • Review results of point-of-care tests.
  • Complete laboratory request forms for specimens collected in-office and submitted to a laboratory (DSHS or lab of provider's choice).
  • Review results of point-of-care tests.
  • Order laboratory screenings/tests.
  • Instruct parent/patient on importance of main dental home.
  • Complete referral to main dental home - A referral to establish a dental home/main dentist is required beginning at 6 months of age.
  • Provide additional individualized anticipatory guidance based on topics identified at the time of the checkup and physical exam.
Qualifications:
  • Texas Advance Practice Registered Nurse License: Current, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in a pediatric setting.
  • Knowledge of Texas Health Steps: Familiarity with the Texas Health Steps program and its guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in documentation and compliance with regulations.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
