Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric Hospital Medicine Physician to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an Academic Faculty Member, you will play a critical role in providing direct pediatric patient care, teaching and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows, and engaging in quality and safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Mentorship: Provide education and guidance to medical students, residents, and fellows in pediatric hospital medicine, and collaborate with ancillary staff to enhance clinical education.
  • Service: Serve on hospital or departmental committees, engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, and national organization committee work.
  • Clinical: Provide clinical service as a Pediatric Hospitalist for the Department of Pediatrics, working evenings, nights, weekends, and taking call as designated by the Chief of the Division.
  • Administrative: Engage in administrative duties, including coordination of resources with pediatric nursing, specialists, and ancillary staff, and collaboration with the Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine to align clinical services and academic missions.
Requirements
  • Board certification in pediatrics or internal medicine-pediatrics.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Virginia.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency licensure.
  • Credentialing at VCUH.
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Demonstrated experience working in a diverse environment and fostering an emotionally safe approach.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of clinical experience in pediatric hospital medicine.
  • Completion of Pediatric Fellowship training.
  • Tracking toward Board Eligibility/Board Certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine by 2023.
  • Prior leadership experience or program development in pediatric hospital medicine.
  • Prior quality improvement initiative development.
