Nuclear Field Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Field Engineer to join our team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. As a Nuclear Field Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting highly visible work with a broad spectrum of responsibility, including technical support, consultation, and oversight through the performance of installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and nuclear systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical support, consultation, and oversight through the performance of installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and nuclear systems.
- Engage in a shipboard industrial environment meeting directly with ship's force, senior shipyard leadership, and Naval Reactors.
- Provide technical direction for problem resolution and oversee compliance with contractual requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new products and equipment upgrades as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or SRE qualified.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in applying innovative solutions to resolve problems/improve performance.
- Prior Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program operational or design experience is desired but not required.
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to varying tasks and responsibilities.
- Experience working with US Navy Nuclear Fleet and/or nuclear capable shipyard.

Pay Range
$76,000.00 - $117,000.00 annually
Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations.
