Job Overview

The Facility Maintenance Technician role is essential for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of designated areas within the organization.

Shift: Wednesday through Saturday, 12am - 8am

Compensation: $16.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the thorough cleaning and upkeep of assigned spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cleaning and maintenance of buildings and facilities, including heavy-duty tasks such as floor cleaning, carpet shampooing, wall washing, and waste removal.
  • Communicate with management regarding the need for repairs or enhancements to building systems.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues, supervisors, and management.
  • Adhere to all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards set forth by the company and regulatory bodies.
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to undertake various assigned tasks.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming, while following proper procedures for chemical cleaners and equipment.
  • Utilize ladders to dust and clean furniture, walls, machinery, and fixtures; wash ceilings and polish light fixtures.
  • Move furniture and equipment to access cleaning areas, using hand trucks as necessary.
  • Remove stains from surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions and techniques.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water with detergents or acids as per specifications.
  • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors as required.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas and apply spot cleaning treatments when necessary.
  • Collect and dispose of trash in designated areas.
  • Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and equipment in food service areas.
  • Polish furniture and fixtures to maintain appearance.
  • Service and maintain restrooms to ensure cleanliness and supply availability.
  • Regularly clean overhead vents, dust blinds, and polish wooden furniture.
  • Clean glass surfaces, including windows and mirrors, using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Apply insecticides and fumigants to prevent pest infestations.
  • Set up and dismantle decorations and equipment for events such as meetings and banquets.
  • Maintain an organized janitorial closet and ensure all cleaning equipment is in good working condition.
  • Request necessary supplies and equipment for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor building security by locking doors after hours and checking for potential hazards.
  • Drive vehicles as needed to perform cleaning duties.
  • Perform minor repairs as required.
  • Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must meet all requirements for working in specific environments, including a ten-year work history if available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service.
  • One year of relevant work experience.
