Radiation Therapist

Job Summary:
ProHEALTH is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at the New York Proton Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radiation therapy and be able to provide direct patient care utilizing proton radiation therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and precise treatment delivery and data capture.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment in daily activities involving treatment delivery and simulation procedures.
- Review all setup instructions, radiation prescriptions, consents, treatment plans, and any other documentation related to treatment delivery.
- Explain treatment processes to patients in a clear and concise manner that promotes understanding.
- Answer patient questions within the scope of practice of the radiation therapist.
- Visually monitor patients during treatment.
- Maintain appropriate treatment and simulation records and data.
- Perform required quality assurance procedures and document accordingly.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures and serve as a role model for others.
- Adapt to changes in work schedule or assigned area as patient load dictates.
- Maintain licensure, registration, and certifications as required.
- Work within the Practice Standards defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
- Complete all mandatory orientation, training, and continued education as required.
Requirements:
- Required: Graduate of a JCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent.
- Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree in Radiation Therapy or a related health science field.
- Required: Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or ARRT Board exam eligible.
- Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist or eligible.
- Must be certified in Basic Life Support/CPR.
- One year of experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist preferred but not required.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 2:00pm until 10:00pm/COB, with some variability expected based on patient volume and machine availability.
