Radiation Therapist

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team in Radiation Oncology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of radiation therapy.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately set up patients for treatment
- Administer radiation treatments
- Maintain accurate daily treatment records
- Perform simple dose calculations using computer software
- Verify and localize treatment areas using radiographic film or electronic media
- Interpret beam films to determine accuracy and follow up with Radiation Oncologists
- Understand equipment functions and use them to their full potential
- Understand wedge and compensating filter use and misuse
- Understand all procedures and practices before proceeding with patient set-up
- Detect treatment unit malfunctions and report to Senior Therapist, Chief Therapist, and Physics
- Communicate effectively with patients and maintain visual and audible communication during treatment
- Report unusual or adverse patient reactions to the appropriate staff member
- Assist Senior Therapist in evaluating student radiation therapists
- Maintain an organized treatment room and assist with chart checks and scheduling
- Attend chart rounds, display films, and participate in patient treatment discussions
- Graduate of an approved, two-year hospital-based certificate program, two-year associate degree program, or four-year baccalaureate degree program in Radiation Therapy
- ARRT registered or eligible for registration within the field of Radiation Therapy
