Position Overview

This role may be offered as a Part-Time Bilingual Education Specialist position or a Full-Time Spanish and Early Childhood Educator role.

General Qualifications:

To qualify for the position of Bilingual Education Specialist, candidates must meet state qualifications and the National Standards for hiring, including:

  • Ability to hear conversational speech, with or without a hearing aid.
  • Ability to see and read printed materials, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and be understood in typical situations.
  • Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use limbs effectively, with or without assistive devices; this includes the capability to evacuate during emergencies.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations, particularly those involving children.
  • Ability to respond promptly to emergency situations.

Educational Qualifications:

Candidates seeking the Bilingual Education Specialist position must fulfill one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any requirements mandated by state or local licensing authorities:

  • An Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
  • A current Child Development Associate (CDA) or Early Childhood Teaching Credential.
  • Proof of active enrollment in an accredited Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in Spanish Language.

Fostering Positive Family Engagement

  • Communicate professionally with families and faculty.
  • Encourage family involvement in their children's educational journeys.

Delivering an Effective Educational Program

  • Assessing necessary supplies and materials for activity implementation.
  • Encouraging teamwork among staff.
  • Developing lesson plans and maintaining posted lesson outlines.
  • Managing classrooms in accordance with GSI Quality Assurance Standards.

Upholding Professional Standards

  • Promoting GSI's educational philosophy and objectives.
  • Supporting a code of ethical conduct.
  • Pursuing ongoing professional development and continuing education.
  • Participating in faculty meetings, in-service days, conferences, and professional growth opportunities.

Foreign Degrees:

  • All foreign degrees must be converted to U.S. credits.
  • All foreign courses and/or credit hours must be aligned with U.S. standards.
