Job Title: Staff Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Participate in financial standard setting and in the forecast process.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.
  • Work closely with the finance team to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and report variances.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master's degree or CPA certification is a significant plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Staff Accountant, or similar role, in the finance industry.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with financial software, including MIP, Month End, Balance Sheets, Reconciliations, and Grant Accounting.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, excellent analytical abilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to colleagues who do not have finance backgrounds.
