We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide patient care services under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, mid-level provider, or physician in an office setting.
- Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
- Collect patient history, perform screenings, and assist physicians/nurses with various procedures.
- Chart patient information, relay instructions, and answer calls.
- Fulfill clerical responsibilities, including sending/receiving patient medical records, completing forms/requisitions, and scheduling appointments.
- Manage and update charts to ensure accurate and complete information.
- Fulfill environmental responsibilities, including setting up instruments and equipment, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, and maintaining infection control.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a certified program for Medical Assistants.
- Current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
- Phlebotomy training and license, if required by practice.
- Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office/facility.
- Ability to partner with teams in small to large practice groups.
- Considerable skill in communicating verbally, determining priorities, and organizing work.
- Ability to maintain an organized, alphabetized filing system.
- General working knowledge of PC: Excel, Microsoft Word for Windows, and EPIC.
- Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
- Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
