The Opportunity

As the Senior Technology Architect, you will serve as a hands-on technical authority within a vibrant and forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering innovative, transformative solutions. Your role will involve collaboration with a team of highly skilled software engineers, data specialists, cloud professionals, and leadership to convert business requirements into robust, scalable, and efficient systems that deliver essential business functionalities. You will take the lead in designing and executing these critical, high-impact systems. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, senior technical leader with a proven history of designing, architecting, and implementing high-volume, scalable distributed systems that drive desired business results. They are also skilled in maintaining engineering standards, effectively collaborating with senior management and a diverse range of stakeholders, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The Team

The Corporate Technology Team is responsible for providing vital platforms that enable strategic capabilities across various corporate functions, including Investment Management, Corporate Finance, Enterprise Risk, Human Resources, Employee Experience, and Legal departments. The Impact:

As the Senior Technology Architect, you will:

  • Shape strategic direction and oversee execution, concentrating on the architecture, design, and implementation of large-scale, high-volume, distributed systems that facilitate business outcomes.
  • Execute large-scale projects that align with and support strategic objectives, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Break down complex challenges into actionable and operational solutions.
  • Be recognized as a thought leader and seasoned expert on non-functional system aspects, including performance, scalability, and resilience.
  • Collaborate and provide innovative solutions across the organization.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, optimizing your time to maximize impact.
  • Assess vendors and technology options, including return on investment, total cost of ownership, and trade-offs, and present recommendations to executives.
  • Promote a culture of engineering excellence while balancing your expertise with the inclusion of others' ideas.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, architects, and managers, driving the adoption of best practices, standards, and methodologies throughout the organization.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and developments, applying relevant insights to the organization.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, and design methodologies
  • 8+ years of experience throughout the complete system development lifecycle, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
  • 8+ years of experience in back-end development utilizing object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, TypeScript, etc.
  • 8+ years of experience in front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, Vue, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, etc.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale cross-functional initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, automation, and change leadership
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and deliverables effectively
  • Excellent relationship-building, influencing, and communication skills
  • Experience with technology platforms that support financial institutions

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture
  • 10+ years of experience coding in commonly used languages such as Java, C#, Python, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, Swift
  • 10+ years of experience in the complete system development lifecycle, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
  • 8+ years of experience with public or private cloud technologies

Salary Range:

$167,800.00-$220,200.00

At MassMutual, we prioritize equitable compensation by providing competitive salaries, along with incentive and bonus opportunities for all employees. Your total compensation package includes either a bonus target or, in a sales-focused role, a Variable Incentive Compensation component.
