Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Application Architect, you will offer technical guidance, support, and strategic direction to both internal engineering teams and external vendor partners in the development and maintenance of our client’s systems.

Your focus will include:

  • Technical Direction: You will establish the technical framework for the client’s systems, collaborating closely with engineers to realize this vision and deliver exceptional solutions. Your role will involve translating the complexities of a multi-faceted project into clear, actionable guidance for engineering teams, providing support whenever necessary.
  • Engineering Practices: You will design and implement software engineering methodologies and tools that empower technical staff, ensuring project success. This includes defining Git workflows, coding standards, code review processes, and continuous integration/deployment practices.
  • Project Coordination: You will work alongside engineers, product owners, and vendor technical leads to outline and estimate project tasks, plan implementation strategies, and refine the technical roadmap.
  • Alignment with Technology Standards: You will engage with executive technology leadership to ensure that the client’s technical strategies align with established standards, advocating for optimal technical solutions when necessary.
Initial Focus Areas

In the early stages of your role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to:

  • Vendor Engagement: Collaborate with procurement teams to select external vendors and establish effective working relationships.
  • Team Development: Assist in planning, interviewing, and hiring internal technical staff.
  • Prototyping: Design and develop prototype solutions to test assumptions and visualize potential outcomes.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience leading software engineering teams, providing mentorship and guidance on advanced technical topics.
  • Large-Scale Application Expertise: Familiarity with large-scale web applications, having previously held a senior technical role in significant software projects.
  • Proficiency in Modern Technologies: Extensive hands-on experience with various backend languages (e.g., Python, Java, PHP), API frameworks, frontend JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue), relational databases, and CI/CD tools.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Experience working on projects involving external vendors, advocating for quality and building internal expertise.
Preferred Skills

While not mandatory, the following experience is advantageous:

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum.
  • Experience in implementing security measures.
  • Knowledge of performance testing and optimization.
  • Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
