We are looking for passionate professionals to fill the role of Psychiatric Care Nurse at the University of New Mexico. In this vital position, you will be responsible for delivering compassionate care to individuals of all ages experiencing a range of mental health challenges. This full-time role requires night shift availability and provides avenues for career advancement and skill enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the health conditions of psychiatric patients and deliver expert nursing care
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and execute care strategies
- Administer medications, perform triage assessments, and engage in crisis management
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure effective communication with patients and their families
- Uphold safety and quality care standards at all times
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited nursing program
- Current RN license in New Mexico or a reciprocal state
- Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred
- CPR certification is mandatory
- Previous experience in a related field is advantageous
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred
Physical Demands:
- Heavy Work: Ability to lift and move heavy objects and individuals
Work Environment:
- Potential exposure to physical risks when managing aggressive patients
- Contact with chemicals and biohazardous materials
