Job Overview

Welltower, a leading global healthcare real estate investment trust (REIT), is seeking an experienced ESG Sustainability Leader to drive strategic initiatives that enhance the company's global sustainability leadership in senior housing and medical office assets. This role is critical in advancing Welltower's commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance (ESG). The ideal candidate will possess expertise in sustainability practices, ESG reporting, and program development, with a strong background in real estate, particularly in senior housing and medical office assets. The ESG Sustainability Leader will be responsible for leading Welltower's strategic sustainability initiatives, managing a team of ESG professionals, and collaborating with stakeholders to establish the company as a recognized global leader in sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

The ESG Sustainability Leader will oversee the completion of annual sustainability reporting, including GRESB, CDP, DJSI surveys, and the annual Welltower ESG Report. The role will also involve responding to investor and third-party sustainability surveys, such as FTSE4Good, MSCI, and Sustainalytics. Additionally, the ESG Sustainability Leader will be responsible for overseeing the extraction, collection, organization, curation, and analysis of ESG data across Welltower's portfolio to meet global ESG reporting and communication requirements. The role will require strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor a team and collaborate with stakeholders.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as ESG, Real Estate, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, or Information Systems, with a Master's degree being preferred. The candidate will also have 5+ years of experience in ESG and sustainability, with a strong background in sustainability practices within real estate, particularly in senior housing and medical office assets. The ESG Sustainability Leader must have demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams and complex projects, including managing and mentoring a team. The candidate must also have high attention to detail with exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Additionally, the ESG Sustainability Leader must have proven project management and time management skills, with the ability to drive ambitious plans into actionable business outcomes.
