Service Engineer for Field Operations

The Atmosphere product line, produced in Germany, necessitates field service support primarily within the United States. This position involves planning and coordinating tasks as directed by the Atmosphere Sales Manager. Responsibilities include the installation and commissioning of new equipment, upgrading existing systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and conducting scheduled maintenance and calibration services. Building strong relationships with customers through effective results is essential, as is promoting additional service and parts offerings for existing equipment, including our capability to service alternative brand equipment to prevent future operational challenges. Periodic training in Germany on the Atmosphere product line will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission new equipment or modify existing systems at customer facilities to ensure optimal operational performance following a comprehensive training period.
- Provide on-site technical support to accurately troubleshoot, conduct functional tests, modernizations/retrofits, and repairs of equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of customer visits and service reports documenting work performed on equipment.
- Deliver instruction and training to operators at customer locations.
- Organize travel arrangements and submit expense reports promptly.
- Adhere to safety protocols and complete all required safety training as mandated by the customer and/or Ipsen.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with safety policies and protocols.
- OSHA 10 or 30 training is preferred.
- Able to effectively coordinate with customers and vendors to execute repairs and installations.
- Capable of identifying problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Ability to read and interpret project drawings and schematics.
- Willingness to travel up to 90% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of Siemens PLC (Step7 300, S7 1500 TIA Portal), HMI, bus systems, and network technology is strongly preferred. Alternatively, familiarity with Allen Bradley or other PLC controls is acceptable, with opportunities for transition to Siemens through additional training.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency (GED) is required.
- Associates degree or other post-secondary certifications and/or apprenticeship training is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience is required.
- Experience with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of atmospheric furnace heat treating equipment is preferred.
