Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in the preparation and examination of tissue specimens for Pathologist interpretation and diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Pathologist in the gross surgical specimen examination, accurately labeling and embedding surgical and autopsy cases.
  • Cut and mount surgical and autopsy cases, staining specimens with H & E and special stains as required.
  • Prepare and stain specimens for immunohistochemical studies.
  • Receive and prepare specimens to be sent to a reference laboratory.
  • Fulfill all gross specimens, paraffin blocks, and slides derived from surgical and autopsy specimens.
  • Utilize existing QC/QA program as required by regulatory agencies, assisting in inspections by all regulatory agencies.
  • Enter diagnostic results into the laboratory computer, maintaining and troubleshooting all instruments in the section.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree with courses in the biological sciences; 2 years' histology-related experience or formal training in all phases of histology, except electron microscopy.
  • Experience Preferred.
  • HT Certification in Histology by accrediting agency; or up to one year to obtain.
  • Proficient in the use and limitations of all equipment in anatomical pathology.
