This position is essential in implementing proactive strategies to mitigate defects at suppliers and within manufacturing operations. By actively participating in engineering design evaluations and validation planning, this role ensures the high standards of quality for new product introductions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, monitor, and assess trends related to new and existing products, including consumer feedback on quality issues.
- Formulate and execute protocols for random inspections of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to confirm adherence to specifications.
- Identify critical attributes and process requirements for a variety of products.
- Analyze data to evaluate the statistical process capability of existing processes and equipment against engineering benchmarks.
- Design and conduct various physical assessments to verify product compliance with performance criteria.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to perform root cause investigations of non-conformities and facilitate corrective actions.
- Assist in the management of non-conforming products.
- Engage with suppliers regarding non-conformities, new product initiatives, and quality system strategies.
- Support all New Product Launches by creating necessary documentation and validating process/product parameters.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing costs associated with plant scrap and warranty claims.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience in quality assurance (including internships or co-op experience in quality or engineering).
- Membership in professional organizations such as ASQ, SME, or ASME is advantageous.
- Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-why, A3, Shanin, etc.) is preferred.
- Knowledge of process certification methodologies (e.g., PPAP) is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- High energy, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and well-organized individuals are encouraged to apply.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Effective presentation skills to communicate successes and ideas clearly.
- Understanding of financial functions and a bottom-line orientation.
- Capability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
