Position Overview:
Arcadis is in search of a Finance Controller/Director for the Places Business in the United States. This role involves leading a dedicated and motivated GBA Finance team, partnering with leadership to enhance their understanding of business dynamics through effective challenge and by delivering insightful and precise management information that drives improved business performance and reporting accuracy. The role encompasses effective financial oversight and control for the business unit.
The GBA Finance Controller will report directly to the GBA Finance Director for Places and will have a dotted reporting line to the Country BA Director. The Finance Director is a key member of the Global Finance Leadership Team (FLT) at Arcadis.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a strategic partner to the BA Director and GBA Finance Director:
Act as a proactive Finance partner, offering insightful advice and constructive challenge across all performance areas. Lead the formulation and execution of financial plans and forecasts. Monitor and report on the financial performance of the GBA, ensuring integrity in governance and compliance. Provide in-depth analysis of business performance and trends, fostering action as necessary throughout the organization. Evaluate and coordinate the quality of capital expenditure and investment proposals from the business. Drive Working Capital performance to surpass targets. Actively engage in sales and bidding processes, assisting leadership in promoting profitable growth.Direct the Finance function within the country:
Accurately report financial KPIs, project performance, and P&L management reporting, enabling effective decision-making for Project Managers and Functional Management. Oversee the GBA budget, develop forecasting capabilities, and create mitigation plans to support target achievements. Lead and nurture the GBA Finance team to provide value-added services. Assist the GBA and Finance teams in M&A matters, including the integration of newly acquired companies. Ensure high levels of collaboration and coordination with other GBA BA Controllers and the In-Country Accounting lead to maintain consistency in service delivery and compliance with financial statutory obligations.Collaborate with the global finance team:
Contribute to the global Finance strategy by actively participating in the advancement of standardized, centralized, and automated processes across the function. Implement centrally designed processes and methods within the country. Ensure standardization within the GBA and across other GBAs, avoiding unnecessary customization of systems and processes. Maximize alignment with all GSSC Finance teams (e.g., AP, AR, Accounting, Project Accounting). Maintain strong collaboration with the broader GBA Finance team, including other BA Controllers across all GBAs, Centres of Excellence, FP&A, and Group Control.Shared Accountabilities:
Collaborate with Finance Directors to develop an in-country finance strategy focused on maximizing shareholder value associated with the GBA, encompassing all value creation levers (e.g., capital allocation, capital structure, portfolio strategy, governance) with effective communication to stakeholders. Support the Finance Transformation team in identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline finance support and reduce overhead through the Global Shared Service Centre, standardization, and automation.Qualifications & Experience:
Candidates should possess a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree and have a minimum of 15 years of experience as a senior finance leader, with extensive experience in finance management and reporting in a global context. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proven experience as a strong business partner, with a comprehensive understanding of client needs and a thorough knowledge of project business, driving finance transformation and operational excellence processes, including leading, motivating, and developing remote finance teams.-
