Position Summary
The role involves independently setting up, operating, and troubleshooting a specific machine or equipment, such as slitting, cut-to-length, or roll-forming machinery.
Key Responsibilities: The following duties are essential to the position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Set up, thread the material through, and operate one machine (slitting, cut-to-length, or roll-former) autonomously. Adhere to daily manufacturing work orders, paying close attention to various materials and noting any specific requirements. Support the operation of other machinery under close supervision as needed. Assist with packaging processes at the end of the production line when required. Band and palletize metal coils and/or sheets, ensuring proper tagging and labeling of finished products. Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with specified lengths, widths, and weights using appropriate tools. Meet production targets while adhering to all safety protocols. Mount and adjust slitter knives, spacers, and guide discs for various coil widths, including adjustments for knife clearances and gapping (specific to roll-formers). Modify machinery settings based on observation and feedback from monitoring equipment, implementing quality control measures. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols and daily equipment inspections. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.Equipment Utilized:
Forklift, rulers, measuring tape, calipers, calculators, handheld tools, and power tools.Work Environment:
Fast-paced manufacturing setting with exposure to varying temperatures and dust; working with mechanical components and potential pinch points; exposure to elevated noise levels. Standard work hours: 40 hours per week. Flexibility for overtime and weekend shifts may be required.Qualifications
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Strong motivation and a solid work ethic. Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift; training will be provided if necessary; all production staff must complete the forklift certification program. Demonstrated safe working practices and meticulous attention to detail. Capability to adhere to company policies, procedures, and processes. Effective communication, organizational, and time management skills. Basic computer literacy, mathematical skills, and problem-solving abilities; proficiency in using a calculator. Proficient in using measuring instruments (gauges, tapes, rulers). Team-oriented individual capable of following directions from management and colleagues. Willingness to learn and operate new machinery.Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory. A minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience is required.
