Role SummaryAs a Staff CAE Engineer, you'll play a critical technical role in guiding and shaping drive unit designs via FEA. You'll be part of a dynamic team that leverages first-time capable/fast-to-market analyses in support of new drive unit designs as well as current production drive units.
Responsibilities- Work upfront during the design phase to analytically validate via FEA components and system-level assemblies against requirements.
- Topology optimization blending strength/NVH objectives to help identify necessary ribbing structure within the available package space to meet structural and NVH constraints.
- Linear static stress analyses for complete Drive Unit systems
- NVH analyses (modal, frequency response, mount mobility)
- Fatigue analyses with knowledge on how to capture pre-stress from assembly loads and scale/superpose function loads to a duty cycle.
- Sealing analyses with expertise in component hyper-elastic analysis and leading to the system-level seal performance of the system.
- MS in Engineering or higher.
- 10+ years of Finite Element Analysis proficiency with Applied Solid Mechanics and Numerical Methods, experience using Altair products for pre-processing (Hypermesh, Simlab, Optistruct), Dassault products for stress/fatigue solutions (Abaqus, Fe-Safe), and N-code.
- Deep understanding of mechanics of materials, statics, dynamics, fatigue, and sealing.
- CAD knowledge - CATIA preferred.
- Expertise in 2D and 3D modeling, sub-modeling, sub-structures, and sealing modeling expertise (Hyperelastic).
- Expertise in scripting/coding and automation with Python/C++.
