Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Stormwater/Water/Wastewater Pump Station Engineer Lead to join our growing team in the East region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and production of pump system analysis and design packages, evaluating existing pump system operation and condition, and providing recommendations for rehabilitation and replacement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pump System Design and Analysis: Develop and produce pump system analysis and design packages, including system head curves, pump intake design, pump station layout and design, pumping equipment specification, and ensuring designs comply with current design standards.
  • Pump System Evaluation: Evaluate existing pump system operation and condition, and provide recommendations for rehabilitation and replacement of pumps and ancillary systems.
  • Strategic Opportunities: Support the development of strategic opportunities within the Water Business Group (WBG).
  • Mentorship and Staff Development: Mentor and develop staff involved in pump system design, and provide technical direction and oversight of pump system projects across HDR.
  • Project Management: Perform project and task management for system analysis and design projects for public clients and private development clients.
  • Business Development: Participate in business development, including client interaction, proposal development, and participation in professional societies.
  • Leadership and Growth: Have growth potential for supervisory and oversight of pump system design staff.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in the design and assessment of pump system projects.
  • License: PE License.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical background in pump hydraulics engineering, pump intake design, pumping equipment design, pump system design, and pump operation. Experience with design codes such as HI, ANSI, and AWWA.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Ability to work with and support cross-functional project teams, excellent communication skills, and a team player attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience: 20+ years of relevant experience.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with CFD and physical modeling, large-scale pump station condition assessment, design, and rehabilitation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Robust interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor for interacting with clients, other design professionals, and colleagues.
