Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team on a contract and per diem basis. As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physiologic health status and develop individualized care plans.
  • Conduct patient interviews, explain policies and procedures, and review patient charts to ensure accurate and timely care.
  • Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status, and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Communicate and document patients' physiologic health status and care plans.
  • Elicit patients' perceptions of medical and nursing care, and identify cultural and ethnic requirements to reduce anxiety and ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Develop criteria for measuring patient outcomes, identify actual and potential patient problems, and develop patient outcome statements and individualized patient goals.
  • Formulate care plans and establish priorities to achieve expected outcomes, coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication, and document care plans.
  • Implement care plans, maintain constant vigilance over patients' care, and ensure safety precautions are followed.
  • Administer medications correctly and safely, and educate patients and significant others about drug and food interactions.
  • Participate in patient and family education, provide explanations of patients' conditions, and recognize and utilize health teaching opportunities.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate's Degree in Nursing, required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, required.
  • BLS/ACLS/NRP/NCC EFM/AWHONN required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
