About the Role

The Walsh Group is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist to join our team. As an HSE Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees, clients, and the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Comprehensive EHS Assessments: Periodically conduct thorough EHS assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective measures to project management.
  • Provide Training and Education: Provide training and education to Company personnel on EHS requirements and recommend advancements to materials.
  • Coordinate Subcontractor EHS Protocols: Assist project management in coordinating subcontractor EHS protocols, vendor, and owner personnel working on company projects.
  • Investigate Accidents and Incidents: Conduct accident investigations and complete incident reporting for Project Management review.
  • Establish Hospital and Clinical Care Facilities: Establish hospital and clinical care facilities for each project.
  • Accompany Injured Employees: Accompany injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation, ensuring all EHS protocols are followed.
  • Advise on Industrial Hygiene Protocols: Advise Project Management on Industrial Hygiene protocols and perform Environmental Monitoring.
  • Administer the Company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy: Administer the Company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, ensuring proper testing for Pre-Employment, Vehicle Authorization, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Random, and Follow-Up.
  • Facilitate EHS Orientation: Facilitate orientation of all project employees to the EHS practices required by the Company.
  • Provide Weekly Safety Updates: Provide a weekly safety update to EHS Leadership.
  • Administer the Corporate SPAT Process: Administer the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: High School Diploma, Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • CHST Certification: CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification preferred.
  • Less than 3 Years of Experience: Less than 3 years of experience in the construction safety field.
  • Travel Required: Some travel required.
  • Physical Demands: Required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification: OSHA 30 hour preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR AED Certification: First Aid, CPR AED preferred.
  • Self-Motivated and Leadership Skills: Self-motivated and leadership skills.
