Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality pharmacy services. This individual will assist in performing paraprofessional tasks, supporting the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answering the telephone and front window
- Compounding products in the IV Lab using sterile, aseptic technique
- Gathering items needed for miscellaneous requisitions, orders, crash carts, etc. for pharmacist review
- Maintaining a clean and orderly work area, restocking returned medications, and restocking work areas to appropriate levels
- Assisting in maintaining inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies by notifying purchasing when items become low or increased usage is observed
- Maintaining drug storage systems through restocking and troubleshooting functions
- Making scheduled and non-scheduled rounds to nursing units for medication delivery and pick-up
- Performing charges and credits for floor stock sheets, narcotic sheets, miscellaneous charge slips, and returned medications into the computer system
- Processing medications in assigned areas (OR, IV Lab, first fill) in preparation for final dispensing by the pharmacist
- Training new employees as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
