Position Overview:

Sturdy Memorial Hospital is in search of an Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to enhance our patient-centered care approach. We are a community-focused institution dedicated to delivering exceptional healthcare services.

With a rich history dating back to 1913, Sturdy Memorial Hospital has evolved from a modest 15-bed facility to a comprehensive 132-bed hospital, offering a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services.

Our Emergency Department handles over 49,000 visits annually, supported by full specialty backup and 24-hour hospitalist coverage. We maintain a robust staffing model with up to quadruple provider coverage each day, alongside a dedicated fast track area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Flexible scheduling options, including part-time and full-time positions
  • Deliver comprehensive care to patients assessed and treated in the emergency department
  • Leverage therapeutic interventions, lab results, and imaging studies in collaboration with the Chief of Emergency Services or their delegate
  • Provide direct patient care within a well-established community healthcare setting
  • Adopt a patient-centric approach to ensure the highest quality of service and care
  • Collaborate with a team of dedicated physicians, advanced practitioners, and skilled nursing staff
  • Engage cross-functionally with hospitalists and various specialties

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a community hospital or tertiary care Emergency Department, managing ESI level 2 and 3 patients, and evaluating ESI level 4 and 5 patients
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication
  • Skilled in operating clinical equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Capable of effectively interacting with both adult and pediatric populations
  • Adept at prioritizing and organizing work tasks efficiently
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with clinical staff, nursing teams, and physicians
  • Competent in multitasking and managing interruptions in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with technology and its applications in healthcare
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Massachusetts, or eligibility to obtain
  • ACLS/BLS certification required
