Culinary Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Assistant Cook to join our culinary team at Red Rock Job Corps Center. As an Assistant Cook, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and service of nutritious and delicious meals for our students.

• Assist in the preparation of meals, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion control, and nutritional guidelines.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to create diverse and appealing menus.
• Execute cooking and baking tasks with precision, producing high-quality dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards, monitoring and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.
• Work closely with the Head Cook, kitchen staff, and other team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff and students as needed, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Advanced degrees preferred.
• Prefer previous experience in food service. Must be able to obtain ServSafe credentials.

Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
