Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Labor Relations Specialist to join our team at SIU Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in labor and employee relations activities, investigating and developing grievance resolutions, and assisting with negotiations and contract agreements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Labor Relations: Participate in investigations into employee and labor relations issues, work with departments, employees, and bargaining unit representatives to resolve issues, and gather and compile data for writing statistical and narrative reports.
  • Employee Relations: Provide counsel and guidance to supervisors in discipline management, maintain employee files, create and develop performance documents, and administer and implement disciplinary programs.
  • Education and Training: Develop, coordinate, and present employee training programs to increase staff knowledge and awareness of policies, procedures, compliance matters, and other employment issues and skills.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of work experience related to the Labor Relations field or other similar experience with Collective bargaining agreements, labor law adherence, and/or interacting with state or federal labor boards.
