**Job Summary:**
To oversee and coordinate the school district's activities and sports programs, ensuring equal opportunities for student participation and fostering a positive extra-curricular environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Principal, Superintendent, and other stakeholders to supervise Junior High and High School activity and athletic programs.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing programs and equipment to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, safety standards, and optimal benefits for students.
  • Assist in recruiting, selecting, supervising, and evaluating coaches and advisors.
  • Provide consultative services to administration, teaching staff, advisors/coaches, and students on co-curricular matters.
  • Monitor student participation and develop procedures to maximize involvement and eliminate discriminatory practices.
  • Oversee facilities, schedule practices and events, and disseminate information as necessary regarding times and locations.
  • Manage the district budget and finances for activities, sports programs, and events, including inventory control and procurement of uniforms, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant federal, state, and C.I.A.C. regulations, including Title IX and other applicable laws.
  • Coordinate transportation arrangements for off-site events, prioritizing safety and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establish and administer a pass program for community members attending athletic and related events.
  • Select and compensate officials/referees for on-site events and represent the district in securing high-quality officiating.
  • Develop criteria for awards recognizing student excellence in school district programs, including eligibility requirements.
  • Create promotional materials to publicize events, utilizing both printed and electronic formats, to enhance awareness among students, staff, and the community.
  • Maintain professional relationships with media sources to provide information on schedules, postponements, statistics, records, and other relevant details.
  • Coordinate ancillary activities before, during, and after events, such as musical performances, press boxes, scorer tables, half-time programs, police coverage, ticket sales, medical services, concessions, and custodial support.
  • Oversee physical examinations for participants in athletics.
  • Address accidents and injuries according to school policies and applicable laws, documenting incidents and reporting as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to comply with school policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the Activities Fund budget through the school district and participate in outside booster club activities.
  • Pursue additional duties assigned by the superintendent or school board in the best interests of the school district.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the High School Principal or Superintendent, noting that this description is illustrative and not exhaustive.

Equipment and Travel:

  • Utilize standard office equipment, Apple MacBook Air laptop, and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Employ equipment and supplies associated with sports, athletics, and physical fitness.
  • Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as necessary.

Physical and Mental Demands:
Work in standard office and school building environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with athletics, activities, and physical fitness.
  • Understanding of applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Ability to utilize personal computers and software applications.
  • Capacity to evaluate, develop, and implement programs and make recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities.
  • Self-evaluation skills for leadership, performance, and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Qualifications Profile:

  • Certification/License: Administration License preferred but not required.
  • State Certification in related area or as required for position.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

Education:
Bachelor's and Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is preferred but not required.

Experience:

  • Successful experience managing or directing activity/athletic programs or a school district is preferred but not required.
  • Successful supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Estimated Salary Range:$65,000 - $90,000 annually based on location and experience.
