Position Summary:

Verisk is on the lookout for a skilled Cloud Solutions Engineer to play a pivotal role in the architecture, deployment, and ongoing management of AWS cloud resources that underpin Verisk's core data analytics platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing securely governed multi-account cloud environments and will adhere to Verisk's best practices regarding security and data governance. This individual will take full ownership of team projects, collaborating with business-facing teams as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and oversee AWS infrastructure resources, including EC2, RDS, IAM roles/policies, security groups, and Lambda functions, utilizing CI/CD processes and infrastructure-as-code scripts while maintaining compliance with Verisk's security standards.
  • Given the sensitive nature of Verisk's data assets, the engineer will refine and follow established processes, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.
  • Assist in the monitoring and assessment of cloud resources to ensure compliance with Verisk standards and facilitate the resolution of identified issues.
  • Contribute to the technical design of project architectures, evaluating security risks, costs, and maintenance considerations of proposed solutions, while suggesting alternative approaches to enhance efficiency.
  • Research and assess emerging cloud technologies, evaluating their technical merits, including performance and governance, through the rapid execution of proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Support internal teams with cloud requirements and provide insights into AWS services, alongside Verisk's compliance policies.
  • Help troubleshoot end-user issues related to the utilization of deployed AWS resources.
  • Engage with AWS representatives assigned to assist Verisk.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proven ability to lead projects that support internal stakeholders while communicating effectively.
  • Experience in deploying and managing containerized applications using Amazon EKS and ECS, ensuring secure and efficient Kubernetes deployments.
  • Proficient in Linux operating systems and adept at writing and managing AWS scripts for automation and optimization within cloud environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of AWS networking concepts, including VPC endpoints, PrivateLink, VPC peering, and overall VPC architecture, with the ability to design and manage secure network topologies.
  • Experienced in creating and maintaining infrastructure as code using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK), with skills in managing state files and troubleshooting deployments.
  • Extensive experience with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), skilled in refining and implementing IAM policies to align with Verisk's stringent security requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS database services, including RDS, DynamoDB, and Aurora.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or similar certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry security standards as they apply to cloud compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
