Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney to join our team at Harding Mazzotti, LLP. As a Personal Injury Attorney, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of cases, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and other personal injury matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files, ensuring that all relevant information is readily available to other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and research to resolve cases efficiently, working closely with senior attorneys and paralegals to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements, as required for contract negotiations and proceedings.
  • Provide expert legal counsel to clients, advising them on the best course of action to resolve their legal conflicts.
  • Assist clients in determining the value of their claims and negotiate with insurance carriers to secure fair settlements.
  • Facilitate all necessary investigations to fully prosecute personal injury claims, including reviewing medical records and conducting research on relevant legal issues.
  • Document the ongoing status of each case using a paperless case management system and establish individual timelines for each case based on the medical status of the client and other relevant factors.
  • Regularly review case statuses and identify potential issues that may inhibit timely case resolutions.
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers to resolve cases through settlement, reviewing medical records and conducting research to assess overall case value and insurance coverage.
  • Prepare detailed demand packages for insurance carriers and negotiate favorable settlements for clients.
  • Evaluate and negotiate liens involving Medicare, Medicaid, other health insurance carriers, State Disability, Worker's Compensation, Additional Personal Injury Protection, and other entities.
  • Advise and assist case managers in the settlement of personal injury claims.
  • Prepare necessary documents, including Notices of Claim, Notices of Intentions to File Claims, Federal Tort Claims Act Form 95s, and infant compromise petitions, as required for various types of cases.
  • Represent clients in Municipal Law section 50-H Hearings, Mediations, and Arbitrations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior attorneys and management.
Requirements
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff members, and senior attorneys.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the VT Bar.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, Windows, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
