Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume accountability for program outcomes by implementing the College's philosophy, curriculum, and course objectives through various teaching modalities, including classroom, online, and clinical settings.
  • Innovate curricular and teaching strategies during the annual preparation and revision of assigned courses.
  • Manage all aspects of individual teaching responsibilities autonomously.
  • Evaluate clinical agencies to ensure they provide suitable experiences for nursing students and meet clinical course objectives.
  • Design clinical experiences and offer direct/indirect supervision and assessment of nursing students delivering care.
  • Collaborate with clinical agencies and University departments to oversee clinical preceptors/mentors and coordinate their evaluations.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students regarding their performance based on course outcomes.
  • Facilitate student remediation within assigned courses.
  • Communicate current information about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Assign clinical tasks that align with students' knowledge, skills, and learning needs.

Professional Role Model

  • Act as a positive professional role model for students, aiding in their professional and social development.
  • Serve as an informal leader, mentor, and role model for faculty and staff, promoting excellence in customer service, collaboration, communication, and professionalism.
  • Guide new faculty members in their development.

Commitment to Nursing Excellence

  • Engage in professional activities beyond the University.

Professional Service Contributions

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of University programs and philosophies.
  • Provide academic advisement and counseling for assigned students while assessing potential counseling needs.
  • Contribute to the formulation and evaluation of student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies.
  • Facilitate opportunities for student and graduate feedback on curriculum and program effectiveness.
  • Offer recommendations regarding budgetary needs to the program leader.
  • Demonstrate leadership by participating in University committees and accreditation preparation activities.
  • Analyze data related to course and program reviews to promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Serve as course coordinator or Subject Matter Expert (SME) as needed.

Nursing Practice Expertise

  • Exhibit scholarship through the Scholarship of Teaching, Discovery, Application, or Integration in line with rank expectations.
  • Maintain a practice of scholarly teaching by updating course materials, applying evidence-based principles, welcoming peer reviews, and reflecting on personal teaching practices.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Current professional nurse licensure is required.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience in a clinical environment.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Prepared to teach assigned courses based on experience.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and flexibility in course assignments.
  • Maintain relevant regulatory and practice credentials as necessary.
  • Exemplary communication skills coupled with initiative and sound judgment.
  • Scholarship requirements must align with the level of rank.

*Educational and experiential qualifications must comply with state regulations and the rules of state authorization agencies.

Additional Information

In alignment with pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position is between $51,962.03 and $93,000. Actual compensation will be adjusted based on job-related factors such as experience, training, geographic location, licensure, certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibilities.
