Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring a hygienic, secure, and welcoming atmosphere for all patients, visitors, and staff. This role involves performing cleaning duties in accordance with established procedures and adhering to state and federal regulations. This is a part-time position requiring 15 hours of work per week, Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Execute cleaning tasks in designated departmental and communal areas based on a set work schedule.
- Ensure hallways and walkways are clean, safe, and free from hazards.
- Utilize housekeeping equipment and cleaning agents safely and effectively.
- Collect and dispose of waste materials in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor and report on the status of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Identify and communicate any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions and meetings.
- Follow all safety and behavioral guidelines.
- Travel between locations may be necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Infection Control training is required to be completed prior to or within the first week of employment.
Experience: Previous experience in housekeeping within a healthcare environment is advantageous.
Licenses and Certifications: A valid state driver’s license and auto insurance are required.
Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
2. Capability to work amidst frequent interruptions; a team-oriented mindset that fosters a positive workplace culture.
3. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
Physical and Mental Requirements: The role may involve manual dexterity for operating office machinery, bending, and mobility for errands or deliveries, as well as prolonged periods of sitting. Occasionally, the position requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 pounds. Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal ranges, and manual dexterity is necessary for tasks such as typing and using a calculator.
Work Environment: Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors, subject to varying environmental and seasonal conditions. The role may require travel between different office facilities. The work environment can be stressful at times, with occasional interruptions, and may involve exposure to communicable diseases and potentially contaminated surfaces.
