Job Summary:

The Arizona Official Website of State of Arizona seeks a skilled Nurse Practitioner to provide in-patient medical care to patients at the Arizona State Hospital. This position is responsible for medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to assist patients, prescribing medication, ordering lab tests and other procedures via the electronic Physician Order Entry system, completing required documentation in the Electronic Medical Record, participating in hospital committees when necessary, and assisting in developing policies and procedures when necessary. The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct medical assessments and prescribe treatment/procedures as required for patients.
  • Perform minor surgery and other treatments as authorized by licensure and approved by supervising physician.
  • Perform emergency procedures as required.
  • Attend hospital committees and medical staff meetings.
  • Complete required documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Other duties as assigned related to the position.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a current and valid license as a Nurse Practitioner from the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  • A State hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S. or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment.
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
