Job Summary

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Police Sergeant to join our team. As a Police Sergeant, you will be responsible for supervising the operation of the District's police force, including making work assignments, updating and reviewing time records, efficiency reports, and accident records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and supervise police officers, providing guidance on job duties and monitoring to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that equipment and facilities are maintained in good order and that all policies and procedures are strictly followed.
  • Investigate incidents, assign officers, and grant approval to assist other agencies as needed.
  • Utilize the LEADS network for licenses, name checks, and criminal histories, and respond to requests from other agencies.
  • Monitor ISPERN for information relevant to the District and assist officers on patrol as needed.
  • Create a positive and inclusive work environment among personnel and foster good public relations with community agencies and citizens.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two years of college or four years of experience in law enforcement or military police service.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • One year of service with the District as a Police Officer and civil service status as a Police Officer.

Working Conditions

The Police Sergeant will work in a typical office environment and may be exposed to loud noise and/or noxious odors. The position may involve working in all types of weather conditions throughout the plant facility and collection system.
