Job Summary:

Assist in implementing a plan of care developed by an RN, ensuring patient safety and well-being.

Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided and make adjustments as needed.

Demonstrate competency in selected psychomotor skills within the LPN scope of practice.

Assist patients and families in learning self-care techniques as directed by the RN and patient teaching guidelines.

Document concise, accurate, and timely information in the patient care record.

Demonstrate knowledge of and respect for patient and significant others' rights, including confidentiality.

Follow established standards for safety and emergency response procedures.

Assume responsibility for knowledge of and adherence to approved structure and process standards for select patient populations.

Participate in mandatory education programs and continuing education to meet organizational requirements.

Seek guidance and validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making as necessary from assigned RN.

Demonstrate awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care/department function and actively support risk management activities.

Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to the development and attainment of self, department, and nursing services goals and objectives.

Communicate all pertinent information to assigned RN in a timely and effective manner.

Promote a constructive/positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to cooperate with and assist fellow healthcare team members as well as patients and their families.

Demonstrate flexibility in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participate in temporary assignment measures.

Requirements:

Michigan Practical Nurse licensure.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider required.

Experience in obstetrics, including antepartum, postpartum, and neonatal care, preferred.

Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a 36-hour workweek, with opportunities for overtime and flexible scheduling.
