Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter & Construction House Leader to join our team at Houston Habitat for Humanity Inc. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for leading and training crews of volunteers and Habitat family partners in building homes.

The ideal candidate will have one to two years of carpentry skills in framing and trim work, with the ability to drive a Box Truck or Flatbed Truck and Trailer to and from job sites. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and train crews of volunteers and Habitat family partners in building homes
  • Provide safety and construction training to volunteer crews
  • Prepare the construction site for the day by ensuring supplies and tools are loaded, delivered, unloaded, and ready
  • Assist with maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Direct InnerChange and volunteers in various work tasks according to skill level

Requirements

  • One to two years of carpentry skills in framing and trim work
  • Able to drive a Box Truck or Flatbed Truck and Trailer to and from job sites
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Moderate math skills

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, squat, bend, climb, crouch, crawl, and use of tools
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions (hot, humid, rain, and cold)
  • Moderate noise level
