Job Summary

The Society for Conservation Biology is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director, Corporate Environmental Health and Sustainability to lead our environmental health and safety initiatives. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in environmental health and safety, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the environmental health and safety team, including training and development of staff.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainability initiatives that reduce the company's environmental footprint.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to employees on environmental health and safety matters.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Manage and maintain environmental health and safety records and reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in environmental health and safety.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in environmental health and safety, with a strong background in regulatory compliance and industry standards.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
