Position Overview:
The Clinical Research Nurse plays a vital role in delivering expert nursing care and overseeing adult patients participating in clinical research trials, adhering to the established protocols of MercyOne.
- Must hold a valid or compact state license as a registered nurse as mandated by the State of Iowa.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of nursing experience is required, with two years in oncology or critical care being advantageous.
- A valid Iowa Driver's/Chauffeurs License is necessary, along with compliance with Mercy's Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and eligibility to drive according to Iowa state law.
- Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the patient population must be provided within three months of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is required by the end of the orientation period, with acceptable certifications from recognized bodies.
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively problem-solve and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA regulations, NIH guidelines, and HIPAA compliance in relation to clinical trials is necessary.
- Understanding of the phases and principles of clinical trials, including differences in cooperative group research, NCI-sponsored, private industry, and investigator-initiated studies.
- Familiarity with study budgets and billing procedures is expected.
