Fire Alarm Technician Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety Careers. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation and Maintenance: Install or upgrade fire alarms in commercial buildings, test and repair alarm systems already in place, and perform inspections to ensure alarms are installed according to code.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues, and report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Team Leadership: Lead Technicians are responsible for monitoring general assigned activities of a team in the field, including installation, testing, trouble-shooting, and subsequent repairs of fire alarm/life safety systems and related components.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency service calls and work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures.
Requirements:
  • Certifications and Qualifications: NICET certification or CSA, knowledge of NFPA standards (including 70 and 72), and experience with commercial systems.
  • Skills and Abilities: Troubleshooting skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment, and ability to work independently.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move heavy objects.
