FPGA Engineer Job Description

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an FPGA Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and implementing signal processing chains for our next-generation flight computer and RF communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop digital signal processing algorithms and systems for our avionics platforms
  • Implement logic designs and signal processing algorithms in RTL (Register-Transfer Level) code
  • Integrate designs onto FPGA/SoC platforms and bring up and validate devices for spaceflight
  • Analyze test results and troubleshoot complex issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with complex FPGAs, ASICs, or signal processing algorithms
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog or VHDL
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing fundamentals and algorithms

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with data pipelines, state machines, and arithmetic logic
  • Knowledge of advanced timing closure and resource optimization techniques
  • Experience integrating logic onto SoC platforms and designing high-throughput PS/PL interfaces
  • Strong software development skills in C/C++/Python
