ROLE SUMMARY
The primary role of the Supportive Living Assistant is to provide essential support to residents while implementing a high-quality, resident-centered care strategy within the Assisted Living and/or Memory Care environment. This includes addressing the physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual requirements of each resident.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUPPORTIVE LIVING ASSISTANT
- Deliver professional and courteous service to residents, their families, colleagues, and visitors, ensuring effective communication.
- Honor and uphold the rights of residents, demonstrating compassion and cultural sensitivity while treating all individuals with dignity.
- Maintain confidentiality for residents, staff, and the facility, avoiding gossip and ensuring a respectful environment.
- Exhibit a positive representation of the facility by adhering to ethical standards, dress codes, and legal guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Assisted Living director and team to foster strong relationships and communication with residents and their families, gaining insight into their individual needs.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to support their overall well-being.
- Provide grooming assistance, including hair care, oral hygiene, and help with dressing, bathing, and mobility as per medical directives.
- Facilitate engaging activities that promote social interaction, creativity, and relaxation for residents.
- Participate in family meetings as necessary to discuss resident care.
- Effectively communicate residents' conditions and needs, identifying and reporting any concerns promptly.
- Deliver excellent customer service to residents and visitors alike.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SUPPORTIVE LIVING ASSISTANT
- Ability to identify and address safety issues.
- Capability to maintain a consistent work pace.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols relevant to the Supportive Living role.
- Ability to work independently and manage job responsibilities effectively.
- Capacity to handle emotional and mental stress associated with caring for individuals who are ill, elderly, or distressed.
- Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with security operations.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SUPPORTIVE LIVING ASSISTANT
- Prior experience in senior care services, social work, healthcare, or customer service is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS ESSENTIAL FOR THE SUPPORTIVE LIVING ASSISTANT ROLE
- Regular communication with residents to assist with their daily needs.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent lifting of items weighing between 0-50 pounds.
- Occasional use of a computer requiring manual dexterity.
- Regular walking, sitting, and standing throughout the work shift.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, or stooping when assisting residents and performing cleaning tasks.
- Ability to work in various lighting conditions.
- Occasional involvement in setting up and dismantling events with residents.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SUPPORTIVE LIVING ASSISTANT
- Experience in senior residential services, social work, healthcare, or customer service is preferred.
