About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Public Records Analyst to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Public Records Office, you will play a critical role in providing access to public information and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process requests for public documents under the California Public Records Act (PRA), Information Practices Act (IPA), and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Exercise independent judgment to refine requests, determine the scope of the request, and review collected items for responsiveness
  • Establish rapport with senior managers and university employees to assist with record collection
  • Consistently review collections to identify confidential, sensitive, or exempt material that should be withheld from disclosure
  • Interpret information management policy and legislation, providing advice to senior management, faculty, and staff
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, with document collection, review, and customer service being significant portions of the work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and members of the public
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Sound judgment and analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching, and synthesizing large amounts of data
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of public records laws, practices, and strategies
  • Familiarity with University of California administrative and academic organizational structure, mode of governance, general policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Experience working in the public sector or higher education environment
