Supervisory Responsibilities: Parks Service Personnel


Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: A minimum of four years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Certifications: CPR certification is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Coordination: Strategically plan, assign, and oversee tasks for maintenance crews. Provide technical direction and support to team members.
  • Sanitation and Maintenance: Ensure thorough cleaning and sanitization of restrooms, including waste disposal, floor maintenance, and supply replenishment. Supervise mowing, trimming, and edging of park areas.
  • Grounds Management: Operate various equipment such as mowers and edgers. Supervise the removal of fallen branches and trees, and oversee the installation and upkeep of flower beds and landscaping features.
  • Equipment Handling: Safely operate machinery including bucket trucks and chainsaws. Manage the transportation and maintenance of equipment as needed.
  • Irrigation and Water Management: Identify and repair visible water leaks. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with irrigation systems and sprinklers.
  • Safety and Environmental Maintenance: Identify and mitigate potential hazards in park areas. Ensure proper drainage and leveling using appropriate equipment.
  • Communication and Documentation: Maintain regular communication with supervisors regarding ongoing projects and challenges. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Contribute to team efforts by performing additional related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of park maintenance standards and procedures.
  • Basic plumbing knowledge, particularly concerning water leaks and irrigation systems.
  • Proficient in operating various maintenance equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills for effective task planning and scheduling.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team through effective communication.
  • Problem-solving skills to address maintenance challenges.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and operating machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience in park or grounds maintenance with leadership capabilities.

Equipment Utilized: Backhoe, excavators, tractors.


Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily conducted outdoors.
  • May involve working at heights or in hazardous conditions.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals, and physical risks is common.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capacity for repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Ability to grasp, pull, push, and reach.
  • Capability to operate mechanical equipment.
  • Visual acuity for close and distant tasks, including color differentiation.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as necessary.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $50,814 - $53,355 ($24.43 - $25.65)

Overall Salary Range: $50,814 - $76,232

Starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.
