Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team at the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management. As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the individual Patient Fund Accounts (PFAs) for approximately 75 residents. This role requires strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient fund accounts
  • Prepare daily bank deposits for all accounts
  • Review, disburse, and deposit all funds and funds requests related to SEVTC's Resident PFAs
  • Provide backup and cross-training for the Accounts Payable position
Requirements
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting
  • Ability to reconcile complex accounting data
  • Ability to record and analyze complex accounting data
  • Knowledge of Patient Fund Accounting and experience with Accounts Receivable
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deliver high levels of customer service
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and related software systems
  • Post-secondary education in the accounting field
  • Previous nonprofit government accounting experience
Working Conditions

This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.
