Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech-Inpatient Behavioral Health Part-time Nights to join our team. This role will work 20 hours per week from 11:00pm to 7:30am, with an every-other weekend commitment and a holiday rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking. Able to function under stressful situations.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to successfully demonstrate the ability to prioritize and complete unit work quickly as the needs of the unit, patients, and staff change.
  • Serve as liaison between patient care units and all other patient-related departments.
  • Answer telephone, intercom, and call lights in a polite manner using appropriate telephone etiquette and communicate information to the appropriate staff/family/patient.
  • Manage the overall unit workflow in concert with the charge RN and/or assistant manager, on an as needed basis.
  • Perform pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge, and census lists, on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
  • Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed.
  • CPR - Basic Life Support.
  • Physical Demands: A physical demands test provides an objective way to identify if a candidate can meet the essential tasks for the job the candidate has applied for at Northwestern Medicine. The testing protocol was established with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
