Patient Monitor Technician

The Remote Patient Monitoring Technician will primarily function as remote monitoring for patients requiring continuous observation. The Technician's responsibility is to observe and report high risk behaviors that may interrupt medically necessary therapies as well as patient safety and/or perceived changes in the patient's condition to appropriate health care team members. Responsible for documenting the observed behaviors and need for redirection. The Technician will function under the direction of the Program Manager and/or Team Coordinator. Focused on promoting positive patient experience by partnering with the patient's family, and other care providers to provide an excellent patient experience. Will perform under stressful conditions with compassion, respect to ensure patient privacy and dignity as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate understanding and proficiency with the Remote Patient Monitoring Software System
- Maintain visual observation of assigned patients at all times. Immediately summon the nursing staff if patient requires assistance
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate observation of the patient population assigned
- Participate in report with on-coming and departing staff members. Review pertinent information and behaviors
- Provide patients with explanations as necessary but do not counsel or provide opinions or judgment
- Provide on site staff with information in a timely fashion when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participate in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assure patient environment is safe. Seek assistance with removal of any potential safety hazards from room and report findings to the appropriate staff members
- Maintain patient dignity and privacy
- Demonstrate safe workplace practices and attitudes, follow safety rules, work to prevent unsafe conditions and behavior, and participate in organizational and department safety programs
- Work collaboratively and professionally with all other healthcare staff and providers, patient, patient's family members to ensure an excellent patient experience
- Responsible to document in patient EMR at a regular cadence per department policies/procedures
- 1 year experience healthcare environment preferred
- Ability to hear, verbally redirect and see alarms and digital read outs. Strong customer service skills
- Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations
- HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
